¿Que es blockchain?

Criptografía asimétrica (I)

La criptografía asimétrica se utiliza para crear las direcciones.

La clave pública es la dirección y para probar que uno es el dueño debe presentar la clave privada.

Un ejemplo de una curva elíptica utilizada por Bitcoin y Ethereum es Secp256k1.

DB distribuida y Seguridad

Al guardar los datos en una red peer-to-peer descentralizada, se elimina la posibilidad de que un jugador los altere.

Como los datos se guardan encadenando bloques con una estructura tipo Merkle Tree, una vez acordados no se puedan cambiar.

Cada bloque nuevo actualiza el estado de la blockchain y debe acordarse.

Consenso sobre los datos

• Proof of Work (Pow): Usado hoy en Bitcoin y Ethereum entre otros (como funciona y su algoritmo simplificado).
• Proof of Authority (PoA): Permite un consenso mucho más rápido, pero impone jerarquías.
• Proof os Stake (PoS): Futuro de Ethereum, Algorand, impone una jerarquía dinámica basada en la inversión.
• Otros consensos.

Teoría de Juegos

• Teoría de Juegos: Jugadores, Acciones, Estrategias, Información, Pagos y Equilibrios.

• Full Node: Encargado de revisar que los bloques estén conforme al consenso establecido. Requieren tener toda la blockchain.
• Light Node: Es un nodo que no tiene toda la blockchain, solamente los headers de los bloques para poder verificar transacciones con el método SPV (Simplified Payment Verification).
• Nodo Minero: Full Node que intenta encontrar el hash correcto para crear el bloque.
• Minero No-Nodo: Usados en pools de minería y están conectadas a un Full Node.

Diferentes tipos de problemas

Incidents prior to FTX

Problemas históricos

• Mt. Gox (Mar 2014): Due to a security breach it lost 744'408 BTC worth $350m (at the time).
• Bitstamp (Jul 2015): It was compromised by hackers the exchange lost something close to 19'000 BTC (valued at 5.1m at the time).
• Bitfinex (Ago 2016): Due to a bitcoin hack it lost 119'756 BTC stolen from Bitfinex stands at roughly $66m.
• Binance (May 2019): 7'000 BTC were stolen (and user data as well) worth $40 million.
• DeFi Wormhole protocol (Feb 2022): The bridge was hacked and it lost 120'000 wETH worth approximately 323m.

Terra's Luna Stable Coin

• On May 9, UST, the primary algorithmic stablecoin powering Terra's blockchain ecosystem, lost its peg to the USD and started to freefall.
• When the Luna crypto network collapsed, it’s estimated that $60 billion got wiped out of the digital currency space.
• Despite early hopes, UST failed to restore its PEG to the US Dollar and kept declining in price. After the project relaunched its blockchain as Terra 2.0 without algorithmic stablecoins on May 28, the coin stood at $0.025 as of May 29.
• En resumen, si hay una noticia negativa y todos piden su dinero al mismo tiempo el sistema colapsa... (¡esto pasa con bancos también!)

Problema hoy: FTX

• FTX 3rd exchange in volume (Binance tenía 10x el tamaño de FTX).
• FTX 32000M vs 300000M de Binance.
• Alameda Research:
  • 3 años de historia
  • Mismo CEO de FTX (Sam Bankman-Fried)
  • Vehiculo de inversión / Fondo de inversion: Capturar dinero de clientes y generarles rentabilidad.
  • Auditoria/informe de CoinDesk: ¿En que invierten? -- Casi la totalidad en FTT tokens.
  • FTT: Token que emite FTX. En este caso el token es como una acción.
  • Luego del informe los inversores empiezan a "abandonar el barco" => Todos venden FTX al mismo tiempo.
  • Desde antes comentarios cruzados (no amigables) entre el CEO de FTX y el CEO de Binance.
  • SEC y Depto Justicia de EEUU declaran que van a investigar el manejo de las inversiones de Alameda Research.
  • Binance primero ofrece comprar FTX (lo que lo llevaría a tener el 80% del mercado) y luego decide no hacerlo.
